I’m fine (eclipse edition)
Eclipse energy, transition energy, nervous system energy… pick your fighter.
This week feels like living inside a transition that doesn’t have clear edges yet.
Time feels fake, emotions are loud, motivation is inconsistent, and the universe is like, “Let’s resurface some things you thought you emotionally archived in 2017.”
Cute.
Love that for us.
One of my close friends said that it’s “eclipse energy”: things feel tender, messy, and unsettled in a very human way. Not dramatic or falling apart, though. It’s that quiet kind of overwhelm where your life feels loud.
Emotionally, mentally, logistically… loud.
I just keep noticing how unfinished everything feels. Conversations that trail off, projects that are in progress but not complete, plans that exist without structure, thoughts that don’t fully form before something else takes their place.
It’s not chaos, and it’s not crisis, but it’s not calm either.
It’s more like a background hum of overwhelm mixed with restlessness, where nothing is technically wrong but nothing feels fully grounded. The kind of season where you’re moving through life competently on the outside while internally you feel like you’re mid-shift, mid-change, mid-something that hasn’t named itself yet.
Basically: the portal is portal-ing.
And maybe that’s all this week really is: a liminal space, a pause between chapters, a stretch of life that doesn’t need a label or a narrative, just awareness and a little patience while things quietly rearrange themselves.
what’s new
Here’s what you might have missed on the blog recently!
These slutty cheesecake brownies or bars or whatever you want to calm them are insanely indulgent. Super easy to make and made for sharing.
I’ve been wanting to share this pork green chili recipe for a while. It’s definitely a riff on the classic, but it’s an easy one that comes together in the slow cooker.
what to cook this week
This is the kind of meal that fits a season where nothing is fully one thing or the other. Cozy, but bright. Comforting, but not heavy. This creamy lemon salmon pasta hits that exact in-between energy.
cocktail corner
Three simple ingredients make a Bee’s Knees Cocktail easy to make and perfectly refreshing. Honey syrup, fresh lemon and crisp gin shake up for a delightful sweet-yet-tart classic cocktail that you're sure to love.
The Hot Toddy proves you don’t need much to make something comforting and classic. With just bourbon, honey and fresh lemon, it delivers cozy warmth balanced by gentle sweetness and a bright pop of citrus. It's simple, soothing and perfect for slow evenings or an easy nightcap.
This easy 3 ingredient cocktail is a must make when you have fresh watermelon! Just a little prep to make watermelon simple syrup, add in lime juice and gin and you have a lovely and refreshing watermelon cocktail!
This lavender simple syrup isn’t just for cocktails—it’s the secret to an easy, three-ingredient mocktail you can throw together in minutes. Stir it with fresh lemon juice and top with sparkling water for a bright, floral Lavender Lemon Fizz. It’s proof that minimal ingredients can still deliver big flavor. Simple, foolproof, and very sip-worthy.
what I’m reading
I just started the Crescent City series on audiobook to pair with my Throne of Glass tandem read on Kindle, which feels unhinged but also extremely on-brand for me. Fantasy multiverse chaos.
That said, I also have the honor of reading a portion of a friend’s book this week, and that’s getting priority because: real life > fictional fae males.
what I’m watching
If you grew up watching America’s Next Top Model, you need to watch the documentary. Like, actually need to.
Seeing it as an adult versus consuming it as a teenager is… jarring. I always knew the messaging wasn’t great, but I did not fully clock how deeply that show rewired my not-yet-fully-formed brain. The body standards, the shame narratives, the manipulation dressed up as “tough love.” It hits different now. It’s one of those “ohhh, that explains a lot” moments. Highly recommend.
the little list
🎵 Song: Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground. Had a full-blown obsession with it in 2020 and apparently my nervous system has decided it’s time for a comeback.
🍪 Craving: All the Girl Scout cookies. Some girls rolled up to the park with a wagon full of them and the timing + my PMS was truly divine intervention.
🌀 Mood: Overwhelmed in a very specific way. My brain feels like 47 browser tabs are open with music playing from one of them. Is it eclipse season? Perimenopause? Motherhood? Existential dread? A fun little cocktail of all of the above?
Scent: clean laundry + pine
Show energy: low-stakes comfort rewatches while playing Pokémon Go! We are back in 2015 friends.
Tiny joy: fresh sheets + shaved legs combo (yes, really)
Until next time!
xoxo,
Meghan
